The Mine Creek Gravel Battle offers a fantastic blend of adventure, history, and sport, allowing participants to ride through the historic terrain of the Battle of Mine Creek while also learning about the dramatic events that unfolded there in 1864. For cyclists, it’s a way to test their skills on a challenging and scenic route, while for history buffs, it’s an immersive experience that deepens their connection to the American Civil War. Combining these elements, it’s a memorable way to honor the past while enjoying the present!
The Mine Creek Gravel Battle is an annual gravel cycling event held on the rugged backroads of Linn County, Kansas. Two distances — 50km and 100km — starting and finishing in downtown Mound City.
This is grassroots gravel. No frills. No massive corporate sponsors. Just riders, gravel, and a beer ticket when you cross the finish line.
